Junior Emory Gordy Overcame Pancreatitis

In the late 1990s, the songwriter battled a potentially fatal illness. Emory Gordy Jr. was diagnosed with the potentially fatal infection pancreatitis. According to the Mayo Clinic, the medical term for pancreatic inflammation is pancreatitis. The pancreas is a long, flat gland located beneath the stomach in the upper abdomen.

It produces hormones that help regulate how glucose (sugar) is consumed by the body, as well as digestive enzymes. In addition, acute pancreatitis is a form of pancreatitis that develops abruptly and lasts for several days.

According to the journal, pancreatitis can be treated to ameliorate mild cases, but severe cases can have catastrophic consequences. Due to his pancreatitis, Gordy Jr. was hospitalised multiple times and required emergency surgery in 1998.
