Excitement Builds as a New Chocolate Factory Comes to Groveland: If you enjoy chocolate or have a sweet appetite, you’ll be thrilled to learn that a new chocolate factory is opening in Groveland, Florida. According to a report by GrowthSpotter, excursions of Behr’s Chocolates will not be available at the moment.
What the Company’s Owner Said
“Most of what we do is private label, so we manufacture a large portion of the grocery store products. “As a result, these contracts frequently prevent us from offering tours,” says the business owner Douglas David.”Our customers are quite protective of their brands, so I don’t anticipate that this project will have a significant public-facing component.”
David owns the David Delights, LLC. Moreover, he owns Behr’s Chocolates. David mentioned this at a recent planning and zoning commission meeting in Groveland.
There will be no public tours of the new chocolate factory, but it is unknown how many new employment will be created for the Groveland community.
According to the Lake County Property Assessor, the company paid $4,85 million for two adjacent parcels on the site in April 2022.
At its public meeting on June 19, 2022, the Groveland City Council approved the property’s annexation and rezone. The property’s classification has been changed from Lake County Light Industrial to Groveland Light Industrial, with the second and final vote scheduled for the 17th of July, 2022.

According to the owner of Behr’s Chocolate, the expansion will result in the creation of new employment in the region. The final quantity of employees has not yet been determined.
Behr’s Chocolates currently distributes its products from the Groveland location. The building expansion will bring manufacturing and distribution to the site, however.
The new Ghirardi Chocolate factory will be constructed on a light industrial block of 30,000 square feet that will be renovated and expanded from its current 58,000 square feet. The property is situated on the north side of Groveland on Obrien Road, close to the intersection of the Turnpike and U.S. Route 27.
Mayor Evelyn Wilson told GrowthSpotter, “Groveland is not only a city with natural beauty, but it has also become an attractive option for businesses seeking great industrial space.” “We love that it’s creating new employment opportunities for our residents.”
Factory to Introduce Sweet Aroma to Town
The chocolate factory will manufacture truffles, bars, and other chocolate confections. It will also provide visitors with excursions and tastings.
