Exploring What’s on the Shopping List: The tax break will begin on Monday, January 1, and last until January 14. It’s like the back-to-school breaks that Florida has had for a long time in the summer, including this year.

This is part of the tax break that starts Monday:

  • When there is a sales tax holiday, there is no tax due on the retail sale of
  • Items of clothing, shoes, and some accessories that cost $100 or less each
  • Some school tools that cost $50 or less each
  • Puzzles and learning tools that cost $30 or less were sold.
  • A personal computer or certain computer-related items that cost $1,500 or less and are bought for personal or home use only.

Florida Implements New Rules Prohibiting Phones in K-12 Public Schools

The sales tax break doesn’t cover:

  • Any piece of clothing that costs more than $100
  • Almost anything for school that costs more than $50
  • Books that aren’t protected in any other way
  • Items for computers and computer parts that cost more than $1,500
  • Computers and parts and tools for computers bought for business use
  • Free rentals of any things that qualify
  • Any qualifying things that need repairs or changes
  • sales of any eligible things in an amusement park, entertainment center, public hotel, or airport
