In Fast and Furious Dwayne Johnson to Return as Hobbs: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in an untitled Fast & Furious film, the actor announced via Twitter on Thursday, after leaving the successful franchise in 2021 due to creative differences with Vin Diesel.

“Hobbs is back in the Fast and Furious franchise,” said Johnson in a video message from Hawaii while donning a lei. “The next Fast & Furious film in which you will see the legendary lawman is the HOBBS film, which will serve as a new chapter and set up for FASTX: Part II,” he added.

The Fast & Furious franchise has grossed over $7 billion worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film franchise of all time.

Fast X, starring Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa, debuted last month to the second largest global opening weekend of the year, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie, another Universal film. It has garnered over $500 million at box offices worldwide.

Johnson stated that he and Diesel have reconciled. “Vin and I put the past behind us last summer. In his post, he said, “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve, and we’ll always take care of the franchise, characters, and fans we love.”

The Moana actor went on to clarify that he approaches his career with a “audience-first mentality” and sent his affection to the entire Fast family.

Morgan penned and produced “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” and “The Fate of the Furious.” In addition, he has written and produced the fifth, sixth, and seventh instalments of the franchise. Directed by Louis Leterrier, “Fast X” debuted at No. 1 worldwide in May with $320 million, becoming the second-largest global debut of 2023.

Chris Morgan, a veteran of the franchise, will return to supervise the script for the upcoming film and further develop Johnson’s portrayal of the courageous diplomatic security service agent he has portrayed in previous films.
