“Where I’ve made my home in Tennessee, legislators are proposing bills that threaten the freedom of love,” he wrote, referencing the recent surge of anti-LGBTQ+ hatred and legislation that has swept the country, including his home state of Tennessee. “It is crucial that I speak my truth, not only for myself, but also in the hopes of changing hearts, minds, and laws in Tennessee and beyond.”

“These issues are especially close to my heart because I’ve been in a loving same-sex relationship with my partner for the past eight years,” he continued, without labelling himself but stating that he has had a same-sex partner for the past eight years. “Those closest to me are aware, but I feel compelled to share publicly.”

“Over the years, the outpouring of love for the LGBTQ+ community has been resounding, but there is still work to be done for LGBTQ+ rights in TN, the nation, and the world,” he wrote, listing organisations fighting anti-LGBTQ+ hatred in Tennessee and across the country. “In response to the overwhelming response to my previous post, I would like to share how we can all continue to advocate for this noble cause.”
