Jane Birkin Cause of Death: Jane Birkin, the actress and vocalist who inspired the creation of the renowned Birkin bags, has died at the age of 76 in Paris, according to the French Ministry of Culture.
She was best known internationally for her 1969 success, “Je t’aime moi non plus,” which she recorded with the late French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg.

Jane Birkin is a style icon and muse known for her effortless bohemian stylish ensembles. She popularised the luxury purse manufactured by Hermès and named after her, the “Birkin Bag.” The bag is regarded as one of the most prestigious and sought-after fashion accoutrements.
The “most Parisian of the English has left us,” according to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. “We will never forget her songs, her laughs, and her incomparable accent, which always accompanied us.”
Jane Mallory Birkin, daughter of British actress Judy Campbell and Royal Navy commander David Birkin, was born in London in December 1946.
Birkin was discovered dead in her home, according to French news outlets Liberation and BFM TV. Le Figaro, an additional French media outlet, reported that Birkin’s health issues in recent years prevented her from performing, and she made fewer public appearances.
According to BFM TV, Birkin suffered a mild stroke in 2021, requiring her to cancel performances. In March, she once again cancelled her performances due to a fractured shoulder blade.
The return to the stage in May was postponed, the French broadcaster reported, citing the singer as saying she required a little more time and promising to see her fans again in the autumn.
She is survived by her two daughters, the vocalist and actress Charlotte, who was born in 1971, and Lou Doillon, who was born in 1982 and is also an actress. Kate, her daughter, was born in 1967 and passed away in 2013.
