The project will be funded by grants and loans from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the state government and under central government scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
The Jharkhand Urban Development Department has drawn a plan of Rs 2,300 crore to supply drinking water to more than 10 lakh people in 18 urban local bodies of the state. Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO) will implement the project.
The project will be funded by grants and loans from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the state government and under central government scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
“The urban development department is committed to provide basic amenities to the people of Jharkhand. Providing drinking water to the urban population is a priority of the department. And, we are sure to complete the project in time,” said Jharkhand Urban Development Department Director Amit Kumar.
JUIDCO held a conference of domestic and foreign bidders on Friday. JUIDCO Deputy General Manager Alok Mandal said that the drinking water project in Gumla, Lohardaga and Jamtara will be set up with Rs 500 crore from the Asian Development Bank.
The state government along with World Bank and AMRUT will fund the projects in 15 urban local bodies. The World Bank will provide Rs 1,200 crore for projects in 13 cities and AMRUT will support projects in two cities with Rs 600 crore.
