The JMM expects President Droupadi Murmu to pave the path of implementation of the PESA Act and the Forest Rights Act in letter and spirit in the country. Apart from this, the party also expects her to play her role in implementing Sarna religion code in the census form and general pardon for all those tribal and scheduled caste people languishing in jail due to financial problems despite completing their jail term.
JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya shared the expectations organising a press conference at the party office at Bariatu before expressing his happiness for the first citizen status to a tribal lady who earlier foiled the CNT and SPT Act tampering attempt by the Raghubar Das-led BJP government in the state.
Bhattacharya said this is for the first time a tribal will remain present as President of India on the World Indigenous Day on August 9 and thus it is expected from the president to take some steps on that occasion to fulfil the aspiration of the tribals.
