John Pinette Death Cause

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office verified on Monday that John Pinette’s body was discovered in a Pittsburgh hotel room on Saturday. According to the medical examiner’s representative, Pinette, 50, died of natural causes related to his “medical history,” for which he was being treated.

However, an autopsy wasn’t not performed. He had previously suffered from liver and cardiac disease.

Since his private physician signed the death certificate, an autopsy will not be necessary. Pinette performed stand-up comedy for over twenty years, but his 1998 appearance in the “Seinfeld” series finale may have brought him to prominence. In the prior episode, his character Howie was the victim of a carjacking.

Despite the “physical toll” his addictions had taken in the past, Pinette was “clean and sober” at the time of his death, according to his longstanding manager Larry Schapiro.

In the past two years, Pinette’s weight has decreased from 450 to 250 pounds. Schapiro revealed that the title of the comic book series he was creating was “They Call Me Slim” and was inspired by his remarkable weight loss.

His manager shared his opening line: “You know how they say in every fat person there’s a skinny person waiting to come out? Well, mine came out, and mine was fat.”

“Earlier this year, Pinette announced to his Twitter followers that he would be taking a hiatus from his profession because he was “physically spent” after dropping a lot of weight and undergoing several minor procedures. Unfortunately, “I didn’t give myself enough time to heal this past fall and it has caught up with me,” he admitted. However, I am recovering well and will return to the stage as soon as feasible.”

Career

Pinette, a Boston native, abandoned a successful accounting career in the 1980s to pursue stand-up comedy. As he went on tour with Frank Sinatra and became a frequent guest on The Tonight Show and The View, self-deprecating comments about his weight became a trademark of his comedic performances.

He has appeared in numerous films, including Junior, Dear God, Duets, The Punisher (with Thomas Jane and John Travolta), and The Last Godfather (2010). His role as Howie, the obese victim of a carjacking in the 1998 finale of Seinfeld, is one of his most recognizable.

Pinette was nominated for a Gemini Award in 2000 for his broadcast performance from Montreal’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, which had previously earned him the title of Stand-Up Comedian of the Year at front please.

After portraying Edna Turnblad in the Hairspray touring production beginning in 2004, Pinette assumed the role in the Broadway production beginning in 2005 and remained in it until May 28, 2006.

In 2004, Pinette had some of his stand-up routines adapted for the animated series Shorties Watchin’ Shorties on Comedy Central. Still Hungry was filmed during John Pinette’s 2010 stand-up tour and debuted on Comedy Central.

Pinette had a comedy tour scheduled for April through June in the United States and Canada, and his next performance was scheduled for the Ontario Improv in California. Due to his prescription medication addiction treatment, he had to cancel a number of shows in 2013, and he had to postpone a tour earlier this year so he could undergo weight-loss surgery.

“I didn’t give myself enough time to heal this past fall and it has caught up with me,” Pinette said. “But I’m on the mend and I promise to hit the stage as soon as humanly possible.”
