Police in Melbourne, Australia, say they found Jock dead in a hotel. Police found Jock’s body after checking on the host to make sure he was okay. Victoria Police in Melbourne found Jock, but the station isn’t being called “suspicious” about his death, according to reports.

The MasterChef Australia judge had talked about many parts of Jock’s life, both the good and the bad before he died. In his book Last Shot, he wrote about how he became addicted to heroin in his 20s but finally changed his ways and started working as a chef.

After he turned 60, Jock got married more than once. They met on Twitter in January 2017, and she is now his third wife. They had two children together, and Jock often shared pictures of them on Instagram.

“With completely shattered hearts and without knowing how we can possibly move through life without him, we are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday,” the presenter’s family shared in a statement via Instagram. “So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time, we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words.”

“For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky,” the post continued. “We implore you to please let us grieve privately as we find a way to navigate through this and find space on the other side to celebrate our irreplaceable husband, father, brother, son, and friend.”

After Jock’s family made a statement, people who knew him or worked with him paid their respects on social media. MasterChef host and judge for many years, Gordon Ramsay, said nice things about the other chef on Twitter: “Saddened by the devastating news… I truly enjoyed the time we spent together on MasterChef in Australia.”

Jamie Oliver, who is also a brother on MasterChef, said that he will miss Jock a lot. Under a picture of himself with the beloved host, the cook talked about his grief. He was on MasterChef Australia Season 15 with Jock, Melissa Leong, and Andy Allen as judges.

“I’m in total shock to wake up to the sudden death of [Jock] … we had the best time working together for this year’s MasterChef,” Jamie wrote on Instagram.
