In the early morning hours of August 4, 2021, North Bergen police officer Jon Nunez stopped Cevallos’ erratically driven and speeding Kia Stinger at the intersection of 61st Street and Kennedy Boulevard.
A concerned bystander informed the officer that Cevallos had nearly collided with a bicyclist due to his excessive pace, creating a tense situation. Officer Nunez listed the accusations against Cevallos without delay, including reckless driving, careless driving, and speeding. In consideration of Cevallos’ provisional license status, he issued citations for careless driving, dodging a red light, and driving beyond permitted hours.
