As a result, the high court heard his bail plea afresh and reserved the order on July 15 after completing the hearing and set the date for its verdict for today.
Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra, was denied bail today by the Allahabad High Court in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
After the Supreme Court reversed a bail decision made by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on February 10, Ashish Mishra asked for new bail. The Supreme Court then instructed the high court to rule on his bail request after giving the victim’s side a fair chance to present its case.
As a result, the high court heard his bail plea afresh and reserved the order on July 15 after completing the hearing and set the date for its verdict for today.
Notably, in October of last year, four farmers were slain in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, while participating in a demonstration against the since-repealed farm regulations.
Ashish Mishra was allegedly seated in one of the automobiles at the time. Soon after, there was an outbreak of violence in the neighbourhood that left a driver and two BJP activists dead. The eighth victim was a journalist.
