The Netarhat Field Firing Range Birodhi Kendriya Jansangharsh Samiti has been demanding to withdraw field firing set up from Netarhat.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that his government is committed to safeguard the interest of tribals of Jharkhand. The Chief Minister said this during his meeting with members of an outfit opposing the field firing range at Netarhat in Latehar district. The delegation thanked him for not giving any further extension to the Netarhat field firing project.
The Netarhat Field Firing Range Birodhi Kendriya Jansangharsh Samiti has been demanding to withdraw field firing set up from Netarhat. The Chief Minister said that his government is committed to the welfare of tribals and moolvasis. He said that the people of Jharkhand are convinced about the commitment of his government towards tribals and moolvasi.
Hemant Soren said that his government took the decision not to give any extension to the field firing range at Netarhat. “The agitation to withdraw the field firing had been going on for 30 years and my government took a pro-people decision. The firing range covered 1471 square KM area. We want the land to go to the poor and necessary actions are being taken in this regard,” the CM said.
He said that the government is aware of problems faced by tribals due to certain provisions of the CNT and SPT tenancy acts and the issue would be resolved very soon.
