Leesburg Fall Guy: Man Takes Full Responsibility for Dual Drug Possession Charges

As they waited for the light to change on Thomas Avenue, a constable had driven up behind them.

Leesburg Fall Guy: A Leesburg man was detained after admitting to possessing illicit substances found during a traffic stop. Michael Deon Grant, 39, was charged with possession of cocaine shortly after he and a female companion were spotted in a black Mercury SUV around Tuesday midnight, according to his arrest record from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

As they waited for the light to change on Thomas Avenue, a constable had driven up behind them. As soon as the light turned green, the constable could tell the SUV’s exhaust was noisier than factory specifications, and it continued to grow louder as time passed. According to the report, he also detected a distinct odour of burned petrol emanating from the vehicle, indicating a malfunctioning exhaust system.

Leesburg Fall Guy: Man Takes Full Responsibility for Dual Drug Possession Charges

A vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Gryphon Road and Tally Box Avenue by the constable. Following the deputy’s explanation of the reason for the halt, the female driver and Grant provided their names. However, according to reports, the driver denied permission to examine the vehicle.

As the constable completed his written warning to the motorist, a K9 unit arrived. Then, according to the report, an open-air scent of the vehicle was conducted. The dog alerted positively on the front passenger-side door. Grant and the driver were removed from the vehicle and subjected to a comprehensive search.

Grant authorised one of the deputies to remove an object from the inside of his right thigh while he was wearing his third pair of denim. The colourless powder contained within the metal container was found to contain cocaine. The article states that Grant was subsequently apprehended.

During a vehicle search, deputies discovered a clear plastic bag containing a clear straw and a white substance inside a purse located on the driver’s seat. According to the report, this was another cocaine-positive test. Grant declared off the cuff that the satchel was his.

The chauffeur told the constable that she frequently steals Grant’s belongings and places them in her purse while they are travelling. According to the report, she had no notion what might be inside. Grant was the only individual detained because he and the chauffeur admitted to possessing the illegal substances. The judge set his bond at $2,000, and he was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail.
