Light rain forecast in Jharkhand today, deficit still at 50 pc

Jharkhand’s monsoon rain figure has failed to improve as it was still hovering at 50 per cent posing the threat of drought in several districts.

According to rain statistics, as compared to normal rainfall of 434.7 mm, Jharkhand has so far received actual rainfall of 215 mm, a deficit of 50 per cent.

As many as 12 districts including Chatra, Deoghar, Giridih, Godda, Hazaribagh, Pakur, Palamu, Sahibganj and Ramgarh were facing the threat of drought as all such districts so far received scanty rainfall wherein the rain deficit ranges between 60 and 99 per cent.

All the other districts including the capital Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Khunti, Koderma and three districts under Kolhan – East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela- Kharsawan district still figures in the rain losers list.

Ranchi Met Centre issued a forecast of thundershowers in isolated places today.

Satellite pictures suggested that a cyclonic circulation was hovering over southeast Madhya Pradesh extending 5.1 Km above the main sea level.
