Melanie Joly, a politician and attorney, has served as Canada’s minister of foreign affairs since October 2021. She was born on January 16, 1979 in Montreal, Quebec, and is currently 44 years old.

From 2002 to 2007, Clément Joly, the accountant father of Joly, served as superintendent of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. He also served as the chair of the finance committee for the Quebec Liberal Party. Her stepmother, Carole-Marie Allard, is a lawyer and journalist who served as the Laval—East Member of Parliament from 2000 to 2004.

Melanie Joly is a member of the Liberal Party and represents the Montreal-area constituency of Ahuntsic-Cartierville in the House of Commons.
