Michael Chiarello Cause of Death: Michael Chiarello, star of Food Network and renowned chef, was rushed to the hospital and later died on October 6, 2023, at the age of 61.
He was a familiar face on such shows as Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, Chopped, and Next Iron Chef, all of which contributed to Chiarello’s fame. He co-created and starred in the Daytime Emmy Award–winning series Easy Entertaining as a writer and executive producer.
After finishing his studies at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, he moved to Napa Valley at the tender age of 24. On January 26, 1962, he entered the world in California. Food & Wine magazine named Chiarello Chef of the Year, and his alma mater honoured him with the same honour ten years later in 1995.
In addition to the San Francisco and Napa locations of Coqueta, Chiarello is also known for his work at the renowned Napa Valley restaurants Tra Vigne, Bottega, and Ottimo.
Near the turn of the century, Chiarello planted his flag in the wine industry by launching what is now known as Chiarello Family Vineyards. In the year 2000, he launched NapaStyle, a retail brand selling artisanal foods and home goods. The James Beard Foundation recognized his writing prowess with honors.

In a statement, his relatives said:
“We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael. His culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family were at the core of his being.”
Through the simple pleasure of eating together, he helped create bonds between people that would last a lifetime. We will always treasure the memories we have of the times we spent cooking and laughing with him. The desire he taught in us to relish life’s flavors and the love he put into each meal will always be his lasting legacy.

Chiarello’s ex-wife, Eileen Gordon, and their four children, Aidan, Margaux, Felicia, and Giana, are all behind him. They were married in 2003 and divorced in 2019.
The chef became famous after hosting “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello” on Food Network for ten seasons, starting in 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, the show took home three Emmys.
Beyond the 2013 premieres of “Top Chef,” “Top Chef Masters,” “The Next Iron Chef,” “Iron Chef America,” and “Supermarket Superstar,” Chiarello has been on a number of other cooking shows. Additionally, he has appeared as a guest chef on shows such as “The View,” “Regis & Kathy,” “The Today Show,” and “CBS Early Show.”
The native Californian attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and earned his degree there in 1982. In 1985, he was named “Chef of the Year” by Food & Wine. In 1986, he launched Tra Vigne, a restaurant in Napa Valley.
Over 10 restaurants later, including the acclaimed Bottega and Coqueta, are his creations and can be found throughout Northern California. Since 1995, Chiarello has released more than eight cookbooks. In the late 1990s, he also established the Chiarello Family Vineyards.
