Michael Gambon Cause of Death: The Harry Potter Fame Passes Away at 82

With a career spanning five decades in the entertainment business, Sir Michael was a seasoned professional.

Michael Gambon Cause of Death: Sir Michael Gambon, an Irish-English actor, passed away in the UK on Thursday at the age of 82, according to a statement released by his family.

Gambon gained notoriety for his performances in a number of roles, although it’s possible that his most well-known performance was as Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” series.

After the passing of the former actor Richard Harris, he assumed the character of the magical headmaster in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” and subsequent films.

Then, in six of the eight major feature films in the “Harry Potter” series, Gambon played Dumbledore.

Michael Gambon Cause of Death

Pneumonia was identified as Michael Gambon’s cause of death in a statement issued by his family.

The family released a statement, which read, “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon,” through publicist Clair Dobbs.

Following a bout with pneumonia, Michael, a devoted husband and father, passed away quietly in the hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus by his side. Michael was 82 years old.

“We appreciate your kind words of support and ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

Michael Gambon Career

Few people ever imagined that Gambon, who was born and reared in Dublin and comes from a poor background, would one day work in Hollywood.

After completing his engineering training, he put his faith in himself and started on an amazing career that brought him to the “Harry Potter” franchise and four Baftas for his work in television. He received a knighthood as well.

He was most recognised outside of the “Harry Potter” films for his part as Jules Maigret in the “Maigret” series or for his work on the BBC series “The Singing Detective.”

Gambon had a long life and lived to the age of 82 before succumbing to pneumonia.

With a career spanning five decades in the entertainment business, Sir Michael was a seasoned professional. He made prominent appearances throughout his career on television, in films, on stage, and on radio.

Households were familiar with him from his roles as Philip Marlow in Dennis Potter’s The Singing Detective and Jules Maigret in the 1992 ITV series Maigret. Over the course of his career, he took home four television BAFTAs in all.
