His longtime co-anchor Mel Tiangco, who fought back tears as he delivered the news on 24 Oras, was among the many who expressed their condolences to Enriquez’s family and friends. Journalist Awarded Honours
Enriquez is no stranger to journalistic honours. Recent awards include the Gawad Lasallianeta for Most Outstanding Male News Anchor in 2022 and the 23rd Annual Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Awards for Most Trusted Radio Host.
The 2015 feature published by Philstar.com on Enriquez highlighted his many accomplishments, including his 1999 Golden Dove Award for Best Male Newsreader and 1999 Ka Doroy Valencia Broadcaster of the Year Awards.
Enriquez won the “Best Newsreader” award at the 1999 Asian Television Awards in Singapore. He won a Silver Camera Award at the 2004 US Film and Video Festival in Hollywood for his documentary on war-torn Iraq, and a gold medal at the 2003 New York Festival for Saksi.
