Miss America 2024 Pageant: Miss America is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world, with competition for both adults and teenagers, but what are the key features to watch in 2024?
The Miss America Pageant began in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1921 as a strategy to lengthen the summer tourist season and was a huge success. So much so that the event immediately grew in popularity, becoming an annual tradition displaying talent, intellect, and beauty, as well as spawning other sister pageants that now take place all over the world.
Talent, swimwear, evening gown, and interview portions feature contestants from several states. During her stay as Miss America, the winner is crowned and becomes a cultural ambassador, receiving scholarships and advocating social causes.
Miss Wisconsin, Grace Stance, who was crowned Miss America for the first time, won the honor in 2023, receiving $50000.
Taryn Delaine Smith, Miss New York, finished second, and Avere Bishop, the first Asian American Miss Texas in pageant history, finished third overall.
