Ohio Minimum Wage Set to Increase on January 1: For most workers in Ohio, the minimum wage will go up to $10.45 in the new year.
From January 1, workers who don’t get tips will make more per hour than $10.10.
There has been a rise of about 3.5%. According to the website for the Ohio Department of Commerce, lawmakers in 2006 passed a constitutional change that says the state’s minimum wage must rise every year on January 1 to keep up with inflation.

For people who do get tips, the minimum hourly wage will go up from $5.05 to $5.25, which is a nearly 4% rise.

At $17 an hour, Washington, D.C. has the highest minimum wage in the country. California comes in second at $15.50 an hour. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, and many states pay less than that. Ohio’s neighbors Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania are among those that do.
