After hearing the tragic news, Smiley's fiancee and fellow RHOC alum Gretchen Rossi, with whom he shares a 3-year-old daughter named Skylar, paid Grayson a heartfelt tribute.
Michelle Arroyo announced on social media on February 7 that her son Grayson had passed away. Grayson was initially diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006, just three days before his sixth birthday, according to Arroyo’s support page. The cause of death has not been made public.
“I am heartbroken to report that my beloved Gray passed away on Sunday night. She posted a photo of her child to Instagram with the caption, “It was quite unexpected, as last week he had CSF extracted from his shunts and they adjusted the valve setting on his shunt, and he was doing better.
I was giving him potassium three times a day because his potassium level was dangerously low and he was still experiencing diarrhoea. After his heart stopped beating at home, I performed chest compressions until paramedics arrived and took over.
When he arrived at the hospital, he appeared healthy and was breathing on his own, but his heart failed once more. Grayson had been experiencing “fevers, infections, and low potassium” over the past few months, which “definitely took a toll on my precious baby’s heart,” according to Arroyo, who added that she “does not have all the answers today.”
After hearing the tragic news, Smiley’s fiancee and fellow RHOC alum Gretchen Rossi, with whom he shares a 3-year-old daughter named Skylar, paid Grayson a heartfelt tribute.
The Bravo star, 44, captioned a carousel of photos of Smiley and his child, “Our emotions always clung to the hope that this day would never come, but our rational minds informed us that it could.” “We are utterly heartbroken and devastated by Gray’s passing. Grayson Arroyo-Smiley was such an exceptional individual.
Gretchen Rossi referred to Grayson as “an angel on earth” and “an incredible warrior” before explaining how the California native maintained his optimism despite having health problems for the majority of her life.
She stated that he struggled daily to find happiness in the smallest of things despite his pain and discomfort. He never stopped singing, dancing, or laughing regardless of his circumstances. He was a true beacon of hope and light.
In her final post, she pleaded for discretion as the family “mourns this unutterable loss” collectively. This is not a goodbye, but rather a “see you soon, little man” Grayson, you’re cherished. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts. She wrote, “Love, Gretchen, your father and Skylar Gray, your sister.
