Talking points of the Bundesliga weekend: EINTRACHT TROUBLE

Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt have yet to win a league game this season and coach Oliver Glasner called for more stability following their 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin. His team, competing in the Champions League as well, lost their Bundesliga opener 6-1 to Bayern Munich.

“If we want to do better than 11th place this season then we need to start playing better,” said Glasner, whose team lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup earlier this week. “We have defensive problems. We still don’t have the stability we want to have.”

BAYERN GOALS Champions Bayern Munich look unaffected by the departure of top striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, having so far scored 13 goals in their three matches in all competitions.

Their 2-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday made it two wins in a row in the Bundesliga following their 6-1 demolition of Frankfurt last week. Bayern’s Jamal Musiala leads the league scorers’ list with three goals in two games while five other Bayern players have also scored.

AUGSBURG CRITICISM Augsburg captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw has criticised his own club for speculation about the signing of a keeper, saying it was too late to be discussing such an issue.

Augsburg’s first-choice keeper Rafal Gikiewicz looks to have fallen out of favour despite a superb performance in their 2-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen. “There was enough time in the pre-season preparation to prepare something like that,” Gouweleeuw said. “Now we are in the second game and I don’t think it’s good, especially when it concerns such a key position.”
