Teena Marie Death Cause: R&B diva Teena Marie is being held accountable for what may have been a grand mal seizure after she was found dead in her Pasadena home the day after Christmas. SUDEP is frequently linked to these most severe seizures, according to Dr. Jacqueline French of NYU Medical Centre and the American Academy of Neurology, and is probably caused by problems with breathing or heart rhythm.
It doesn’t happen often among those who have seizures, and researchers are unsure of the precise process by which it results in mortality at this time.

On Saturday, Marie and the publicist had a “great” conversation in which Marie conveyed her excitement about performing this week in Atlanta. This was supposed to be Marie’s first performance following the seizure.
Since she first rose to fame at the age of 19, Marie has worked with a variety of different record labels to release music. Her most recent studio album, Congo Square, was a collaborative project.
In a statement released by his publicist, Berry Gordy, the creator of Motown, said, “I am horrified by the sudden death of my darling Teena Marie.” She was my “baby,” always being true to who she was and what she believed in.
She was commended by Berry for being a “powerhouse performer, writer, producer, and arranger.”
When she first came in for an audition, Gordy remarked, “she was so awesome she blew me away.” The only thing white about her was her complexion, yet she had such a lot of soul.
