Sydney, Jul 18: People of Tulunad origin residing in Sydney Australia came together to celebrate ‘Aati da Onji Dina’ organized by Tulu Koota Sydney on July 17. This event was held at Arcadia Community center in Sydney and attended by 150 people.
The program started with a lamp lighting ceremony done by Shruthi, Meghna, Ranjeetha, Veena and Shreya who were the backbone of the event. They managed to work with volunteers and prepare the Tulunad cuisine for the event. Akshata song the inaugural song.
This event was emceed by Suresh Poonja who passionately spoke about the Aati and explained how difficult the month was Aati for Tuluvas. He also spoke about keeping the Tulu culture alive and teaching the younger generation values and traditions. His great fluency in Tulu captured the audience’s attention.
The event was all about Tulunad Food which was cherished by all the attendees. After the food, TKS organized fewer games for the people to get to know each other. People enjoyed it to a great extent.
Finally, the event was closed by a thank you speech by Avakash and Sumeeth who started this Tulu Koota a few months back. They said this event would not have happened without the support of the community. They also thanked Supreet Shambu, the event sponsor who runs the Sydney sports club in Sydney.
