Two Men Killed and Five Wounded in Altria Theater Shooting: A Huguenot High School graduate and their father were shot and killed during a commencement ceremony outside the Altria Theatre, while five others were injured. At 5:15 p.m., police in Richmond reported hearing gunshots outside the Altria Theatre. Officers discovered “multiple victims.”
Rick Edwards, acting police chief, reports seven sh00tings. A family spokesperson confirmed that 18-year-old Shawn Jackson and his 36-year-old father, Renzo Smith, were killed by injuries. A 31-year-old suffers from life-threatening wounds.
Edwards also reported that four other men, ages 14, 42, 55, and 58, were injured but anticipated to recover. Three others were hospitalised for anxiety, two fell, and a fleeing 9-year-old was struck by a vehicle. This child should also be fine.
A 19-year-old male has been placed under arrest for sh00ting. He could be charged with two counts of second-degree murder and other crimes. Wednesday morning, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Collette McEachin, the suspect will be arraigned.
The police believe that the suspect knew one of the victims. According to Richmond Public Schools, the incident occurred in Monroe Park near the theatre following Huguenot High School’s commencement ceremony.
This week, the district has cancelled all high school commencements. RPS will shortly announce a new starting ceremony date. Tomorrow, June 7, all RPS schools will be closed out of “excessive caution.”
