Brinson was accused of having a weapon in his possession as a known criminal. According to a criminal background check, Brinson was found guilty in 2012 of distributing cocaine and heroin close to a school. He received a six-year jail term.

He was detained once again in June 2019 for unlawfully utilising a B.C.M. and selling cocaine, according to Lake County Jail records.

Tyree Dewon Brinson Arrested: How Police Determined Brinson Was Guilty in the Gun Possession Case

A Fruitland Park police officer saw a grey Dodge Charger driving south on U.S. Highway 27/441 just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, and that observation led to a traffic stop that resulted in Brinson’s arrest. The motorist, subsequently identified as Brinson, was sitting in a slouchy, leaning back position and not using a seatbelt when the officer observed him.

After stopping Brinson for a traffic infraction, the officer noticed a strong stench emanating from within the car as soon as Brinson got inside. Although he claimed to have a medical marijuana card, Brinson did not have it with him.

When questioned whether there was marijuana in the car, Brinson responded, “I recently had a root canal, so I can’t smoke.” To explain the pungent stench, he produced an ashtray from the cupholder next to him that seemed to contain burnt marijuana blunts.

The arresting officer instructed Brinson to exit the car as another cop arrived on the scene. He first objected and said he didn’t want to go. He was requested to exit once more as the police reached inside the door to open it.

Brinson then revealed that he possessed marijuana, which the report noted was not in the proper container, and pulled a plastic bag containing a green leaf from his pocket.

After conducting a probable cause search of the car, the police discovered a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun that was within Brinson’s reach in the glove box. Brinson admitted to being a convicted felon when questioned.

Police Transport Brinson to Prison

Brinson was detained and taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was eventually released on a $10,000 bond. The pistol had just one bullet loaded in the chamber.

The arrest occurs at a time when law enforcement authorities are growing more worried about convicted criminals possessing weapons illegally. Possession of a firearm by an incarcerated felon is a third-degree crime in Florida.

Brinson has not yet received a verdict in his case, which is currently ongoing. His arrest serves as a reminder of the risks presented by offenders with criminal records who unlawfully own weapons, nevertheless.
