After a witness claimed Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez threatened to “end it here” and pointed a gun at the man’s head, Tampa, Florida police detained him.
Ramirez and his wife went to the Tampa Summer Conference of the Florida Sheriff’s Association on July 23, 2023. Ramirez allegedly threatened her husband with a revolver following an argument at a hotel.
The only proof of the alleged incident, according to the papers, is secondhand information provided to a hotel employee by an unnamed witness who claims to have seen it.
The Tampa police showed up at 6:50 p.m. outside Ramirez’s room on the 12th floor of the hotel. The cops cuffed him and asked him why he had apparently aimed the pistol at himself.
Ramirez said he and his wife had argued, but he said he was not planning any damage to himself or anybody else. The woman he was married to concurred, stating she felt perfectly protected.
Ramirez was freed at the hotel because there was no indication that he posed a crime or threat. Ramirez’s wife contacted 911 that night in a panic to tell that he had rushed onto Interstate 75 and shot himself.
Four minutes later, emergency personnel arrived, and Ramirez was taken by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital, where he had a series of operations. As of this writing, he is still in the hospital.
