Bill Nye was the subject of a major news item in 2019. Some say he was arrested for drug dealing. They discussed it extensively, and some media outlets even reported that he allegedly kept a stash of illegal narcotics and cash in a hidden room in his home.

But as investigation and verification revealed, none of this was accurate. Someone we don’t know made up the news, and it became viral on social media.

It was one of those cases where something read online turned out to be false. Some others fell for the untrue stories simply because they were shared on social media.

To put it plainly, Bill Nye did not do time in prison for peddling narcotics. The narrative was completely made up, but because to social media, many people believed it to be true.

Many people discussed it online, particularly on Twitter. These days, everything you read on social media tends to be taken at face value.
