On September 7, 2023, Wayne Potter of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away following a three-year struggle with lung cancer. His last few days were peaceful and full of family time. His employment with Columbia Gas came to an end in 1993 after he graduated from Brunswick High School.
His second wife, Sonja Halstead, and Wayne had a lovely family. Wayne Potter was the ideal stepfather once Anthony Wayne Potter was born to Johnny and Brittany.

Wayne adopted the moniker “Ford Tough” because he looked up to and imitated his father. He proudly joined The Masons, Eagles, Clays Park, and Galaxy.
Wayne was a traditionalist who loved spending Sundays with his Italian family and eating Italian food prepared by his Aunt Paula. To Wayne, his family was everything. You were not his family if he did not make fun of you.
Wayne is survived by his wife and carer Sonja, children Brittany (Andrew) Sidol, Anthony Potter, Johnny Halstead, Cindy (Joe) Moran, godson and nephew Kevin Moran, niece Kayla Lauro (Joe), grandmother Gloria Palmentera, in-laws Paul & Patti Payne, and sister-in-laws Stephanie Payne and Deborah Wise. He is also survived by his parents Wayne and Bernice Potter.
Rosie and Lucy, his regular friends, as well as his other cousins, aunts, and uncles, live on. Wayne’s grandparents Neal and Louise Potter, John Palmentera, brother-in-law Chuck Payne, and Shelby, his first love, predeceased Shelby.
Wayne Potter had a lovely appearance both inside and out. His radiant grin lit up the space. He had a sincere concern for people. Many people will recall how he affected their life. His loss will never be forgotten.
On Friday, October 13, 2023, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., friends and family are welcome to his Celebration of Life at The Galaxy Restaurant & Banquet Centre, 201 Park Centre Drive, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281.
