Contrary to our expectations, Gamora did not rejoin The Bowie crew. From a narrative perspective, it makes perfect logic.
What Happened To Gamora After Endgame: Gamora has had one of the most peculiar character arcs in the Infinity Saga and the ongoing Multiverse Saga. However, what happened to the Guardians of the Galaxy heroine and why was she absent for the duration of MCU Phase 4?
One of Kevin Feige’s and the company’s most controversial decisions was Gamora’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, followed by her resurrection in Avengers: Endgame. But, unlike the humans who had been “blipped,” the Gamora who returned to this dimension had never met the Guardians and had no knowledge of Peter Quill and the rest of the team.
This brings us to Thor: Love and Thunder, the first appearance of the company since Endgame, though Gamora is conspicuously absent despite the fact that we were half-expecting her to rejoin the crew. So, what transpired with Gamora following the events of Endgame, and where did she end up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
Contrary to our expectations, Gamora did not rejoin The Bowie crew. From a narrative perspective, it makes perfect logic. Gamora knows nothing about her previous self, and her character development is insufficient for her to experience empathy for the Guardians or the universe in general.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3 reveals that Gamora has found a new home among the Ravagers. The estrangement between her and the Guardians is a crucial narrative point in Vol. 3, but James Gunn integrates it organically and without force.
The MCU is not attempting to undo what it did with the original Gamora’s demise, and while the actress is open to reprising the role and reuniting with Peter, there have been no indications as to when this may occur.
Gamora will therefore spend the time being as a Ravager, traversing the galaxy and engaging in space pirate exploits. But, in light of all of Endgame’s time-travel and interdimensional breaching restrictions, many individuals are wondering:
Given that she was killed in Vormir for a Soul Stone and died before the Snap, the query is valid. Endgame demonstrated to moviegoers that no hero or character from previous or contemporary films cannot be revived, reincarnated, or reintroduced into action. This occurred when “evil” versions of Gamora, Nebula, and Thanos, among other antagonists, emerged.
Therefore, Gamora is theoretically still alive despite the fact that Thanos murdered her. Due to her return, she will have no memory or knowledge of her recent adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Quill is still madly in love with Gamora (spoiler: he’s not dead), and a man calling himself Star-Lord has been spotted pounding the pavement in pursuit of her.
This means that he will have to exert great effort to rekindle her affections, which is a difficult task. It is impossible to top having to murder your living planet father, one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel universe. When you’ve been through something like that, it’s not like you can go to Dave & Buster’s or play miniature golf with your partner.
Therefore, Gamora fans can rest assured that the adored Guardians of the Galaxy character will remain. Her journey, however, is currently unknown. Possibly Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (which has James Gunn attached once again) will detail Quill’s efforts to convince Gamora to rejoin the team.
