It’s Surprising That Our Shadowy Activities Keep Going On

It’s remarkable that a show with so many offbeat elements has lasted this long. What We Do in the Shadows has a few well-known actors in cameo roles, but it didn’t have many A-listers when it was released in 2019.

The show’s longevity is all the more remarkable given the production and scheduling difficulties it has endured over the years. Several new shows, including What We Do in the Shadows, were cancelled in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Nonetheless, production on Season 2 wrapped, and the new season will debut in April of 2020. Despite the Hollywood writers’ strike, the show’s premiere nonetheless took place this year, and its second season was aired barely 13 months later.

What We Do in the Shadows’s consistent release schedule is entirely accidental. However, its longevity is dubious. Rotten Tomatoes users overwhelmingly approve of the show, giving it a score of 98% versus 96% for movies.

The show’s success can be credited to its unique combination of comedy and horror, as well as to the fact that it has managed to keep to a consistent running schedule despite all odds.
