Which Cellphone Carriers Experience the Highest Outages?

The United States is still grappling with severe outages made by major telecommunications firms, leaving cell phones as a glorified alarm clock.

Cellphone Carriers with Highest Outages: People all throughout the United States are waking up this morning with cell phones that are essentially nothing more than a glorified alarm clock. This is because all of the major telecommunications firms have reported severe outages occurring across the country. It has been several hours since the initial reports of the outages were made, and there is still very little information that has been made public regarding the factors that have led to the failure of the cellular networks.

Carriers seeing the greatest number of outage reports

users of AT&T have reported the most disruptions in mobile service, followed by users of Cricket Wireless, Verizon, and T-Mobile. AT&T is the carrier that has received the most number of outage complaints.

A low-cost cellular carrier known as Cricket Wireless has received more than 13,000 reports, with two-thirds of those reports indicating that their handset is not receiving a signal. The fact that Cricket is the second most affected carrier is not surprising because its parent company is AT&T, and the two companies may share cellular infrastructure.

The most prominent competitors of AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, are also experiencing outages; however, fewer than 5,000 reports have been reported to Down Detector for the past twenty-four hours. This number is greater than 70,000 for AT&T itself.

While Down Detector is a useful resource for tracking failures of cellular networks, mobile applications, and other platforms, it also has additional purposes. There is a heat calendar that is published on the website, which serves to show the locations where more reports have been filed.

Customers of AT&T in the following cities have submitted the most reports, according to the website: Houston, Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta, New York City, Austin, Miami, and Indianapolis. The addition of Los Angeles rather than Austin is the only difference between this list and the one that T-Mobile has, which is fairly identical to the existing list.

Chicago, New York City, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Indianapolis, and Brooklyn were the seven cities that ranked highest in terms of the number of Verizon users.
