The 67-year-old man with a gun started shooting on the fourth floor of Beam Hall, which is UNLV's business school.
Who is Anthony Polito: Anthony Polito, the person who is thought to have carried out the deadly mass shooting at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), has been named as a professor who had previously tried and failed to get a job at the university.
The 67-year-old man with a gun started shooting on the fourth floor of Beam Hall, which is UNLV’s business school. Three people were killed. Police and Polito got into a shootout, which ended with Polito’s death.
He called himself a “semi-retired university professor” in Las Vegas, and his degrees came from Radford University, Duke University, and the University of Georgia.
“The greatest gifts and takeaways I possess from my many years within higher education are the many kind & positive comments students made regarding my instruction disposition toward them,” his LinkedIn profile says.

From August 2001 to January 2017, he was an associate professor at East Carolina University. A fourth victim is in critical but stable state, and four others had panic attacks. Two police officers were also hurt, but not seriously.
After what happened, the UNLV school was locked down, and police took all of the students and workers to safety.
The police are looking into Polito’s apartment in Henderson, Nevada. Detectives are looking through his phone to see what might have led to the killing.
Even though the victims were not students but rather teachers or staff, this is something that authorities are looking into as a possible reason for the attack.
