It’s important to know what’s going on in the punk princess’s love life because famous relationships are known to be shaky. Whether she is writing songs or dealing with the difficulties of love, Avril Lavigne continues to captivate audiences all over the world.

Who Is Avril Lavigne Dating?

Avril Lavigne is still looking for love, even though she has been through two divorces and a complicated love life. Rappers and rock stars have been a big part of Avril Lavigne’s love life.

For ten months, the singer Mod Sun and the Canadian performer were engaged. In February 2023, they broke up. A source told PEOPLE that the two have been seeing each other “on and off for the past two months,” but they are no longer dating.

Her breakup with Mod was announced the day after she hugged rapper Tyga at Nobu in Los Angeles. They broke up in June 2023, after dating for three and a half months. In October 2023, they broke up again after getting back together for a month.

From 2013 to 2015, the “Complicated” singer was married to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. From 2006 to 2009, she was married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley. Brody Jenner and star Wilmer Valderrama are also linked to her.

About Her Past Relationships

Mr. Jesse Colburn

In the early 2000s, Lavigne went out with her band’s bassist, Jesse Colburn. In 2004, the lead singer of “Girlfriend” told MTV News that Colburn had also left the band after they broke up. “He just wanted to go do his own thing,” she said. “Everyone does that sometimes.”

Deryck Whibley

In June 2005, Lavigne and Deryck Whibley got engaged in Venice, Italy, after dating for about a year. In secret, they married in California after dating for 13 months.

After being married for three years, the Canadian bands broke up in September 2009. After a month, Lavigne asked for a divorce. “Deryck and I have been together for six and a half years,” she said in a statement on her website when they broke up. We became friends when I was 17, went on dates when I was 19, and got married when I was 21. I’m thankful for the time we spent together and the bond of friendship we still have.

She also said, “I really respect and admire Deryck.” I love him very much and think he is the most wonderful person I know. Deryck and I are breaking up and moving on with our lives in a good way.

Even after they got divorced, they stayed friends and continued to work together. Lavigne told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS radio show in January 2010: “He’s one of my best friends.” We’ve been friends for a long time and will always be. We’re connected because we’re family.

Brandon Davis

Before Whibley’s split became known, Lavigne was said to be seeing Brandon Davis in September 2009. According to a person who spoke to PEOPLE, “She and Brandon Davis have a good time together.” Another person who knew about the situation said that there was “no romance” between Lavigne and Davis when they broke up with Whibley.

The Career of Avril Lavigne

Lavigne won a radio contest in 1999 that put her on stage with another Canadian singer, Shania Twain, in front of 20,000 people at the Corel Center in Ottawa. Twain and Lavigne sang her song “What Made You Say That,” and Lavigne told Twain that her dream was to be “a famous singer.”

Stephen Medd, a musician from the area, saw Lavigne at a show at the Lennox Community Theatre. A song called “Touch the Sky” from his 1999 record Quinte Spirit had room for her to sing backup. In 2000, she sang on his next record, My Window to You, on the songs “Temple of Life” and “Two Rivers.”

Cliff Fabri, who was Lavigne’s first manager, heard her singing country songs in a Kingston Chapters store in December 1999. A lot of people who wanted to work in the music business got VHS tapes of Lavigne’s home shows through Fabri, and some execs even went to see her.

Mark Jowett, co-founder of the Canadian management company Nettwerk, was given a CD of Lavigne’s singing records that she made in her parents’ basement. Along with director Peter Zizzo, Jowett set up a time for Lavigne to write “Why” in New York in the summer of 2000. Arista Records took notice of Lavigne while they were in New York.

At the time, Antonio “L.A.” Reid was the head of Arista Records. In November 2000, A&R agent Ken Krongard asked Reid to Zizzo’s studio in Manhattan to hear Lavigne play. After hearing her 15-minute audition, Reid was “so impressed” that he signed her right away to Arista and gave her a $1.25 million deal for two records plus an extra $900,000 for a writing advance.

Lavigne liked skateboarding, but she didn’t feel safe at school. She found that she easily fit in with the skater group at her high school, and this image stuck.

She quit school after getting a record deal to focus on her singing career. Nettwerk decided to choose Lavigne’s band, which was mostly Closet Monster members because they were looking for up-and-coming young Canadian punk rock artists.
