John Anthony Gillis is the birth name of Jack White, who was born on July 9, 1975. He is one of ten children born to a musical Detroit Catholic family. White is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the guitar, piano, and percussion. Before interning at Muldoon Studio, an upholstery company, he played in multiple ensembles, including Two Star Tabernacle and The Go.
At this time, he formed a band at Muldoon Studios, and the studio’s proprietor, Brian Muldoon, released a three-track single titled The Upholsterers. Jack founded his own business, Third Man Upholstery, at age 21. In 1996, he married Meg White, a barmaid at the time.

White and Karen Elson were married in 2005. A year later, they gave birth to their only child, a daughter named Scarlett Teresa White. They broke up in 2013. White married vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Olivia Jean in 2022.
