Josh McDaniels Career as a Player

Josh McDaniels attended Canton McKinley High School, where coach Greg Debeljak recruited him. After graduating from secondary school, he enrolled at John Carroll University. In high school, he was a quarterback, but when he went to college, he played a different position, mostly as a wide receiver, because another player named Nick Caserio was the quarterback.

McDaniels had some interesting colleagues at John Carroll. One of them was London Fletcher, an NFL linebacker who played for the St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Washington Redskins, among others. He also played alongside Brian Polian, who later became the head coach at the University of Nevada-Reno, Jerry Schuplinski, who currently coaches quarterbacks for the New York Giants, Tom Telesco, who is the general manager of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Dave Ziegler, who is the general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders.
