Who is Michael Cohen: The Lawyer Behind Trump’s Payment to Stormy Daniels

The case involves Michael Cohen, a former Trump’s personal lawyer for over a decade who is now one of Trump’s biggest enemies.

Who is Michael Cohen: The first former president of the United States to be indicted on criminal charges was Donald Trump last year.

Stormy Daniels’ trial, which included thirty-four charges against the former president, was supposed to start this week, but has now been postponed until next month.

Michael Cohen is a former ally of Donald Trump. Who is he?

The case involves Michael Cohen, a former Trump’s personal lawyer for over a decade who is now one of Trump’s biggest enemies.

In a 2018 interview with The New York Times, he admitted that he paid Daniels in advance to prevent her from making any allegations against the former president.

A federal prosecutor who charged Cohen with criminal charges in 2018 said Trump’s company redirected reimbursements to Cohen to cover the payment made to Daniels.

A bonus of $60,000 is believed to have been paid to Cohen along with a salary of $360,000. The Trump Organization allegedly fraudulently recorded these payments to Stormy Daniels and the lawyer as “legal services.” Cohen served three years in prison after admitting to these facts, and he has been cooperating with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office since then. He has been accused of being a “rat” by Trump, and has denied responsibility for what transpired.

When Cohen pleaded guilty to violating the Campaign Finance Law and committing perjury in Congress in 2018, he was sentenced to prison. Cohen claimed he was ordered by Trump to deliver the money and covered up for him out of loyalty to him. In 2021, Cohen was released from prison.

“I worked for a man who ultimately became president of the United States, and there were things that we did that were wrong — for example, the hush-money payment — but I never expected that democracy would be on the line as a direct result of the former president,” Cohen told ABC News, when asked what he thought of Trump’s mandate. On January 6, 2021, the Capitol riot led to the resignation.
