However, he survived the assault and is currently in stable condition. Sunday’s assault occurred at United States Penitentiary Coleman in Florida. During an altercation with another inmate at a federal prison, he was stabbed in the stomach and torso.
Nassar was serving decades in prison at the time of the attack for convictions in state and federal courts for sexually assaulting gymnasts, including Olympic medalists.
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Gymnastics were ordered to pay $380 million to the gymnasts in September 2021, after star athletes including Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, McKayla Moriarty, and Maggie Nichols testified in court about sexual abuse disguised as “medical treatments.”
