Mary’s health deteriorated drastically after the divorce. Colorectal cancer, a deadly form of the disease that begins in the colon, was diagnosed as the cause.

Vili still had strong feelings for Mary despite the fact that they were no longer a couple. When she became ill, he uprooted his life and moved to California to care for her. He was by her side the entire time she was dying.

David Gehrke, Mary’s attorney, has remarked that Mary is very appreciative of Vili’s concern for her. She lived to the age of 58 before passing away.

The former wife of Vili Fualaau has had a difficult life. Mary Kay was a married mother of four when she met Vili, who was just twelve at the time. He was a student she was assigned to teach in sixth grade.

In the late 1990s, Mary allegedly had sexual contact with a child in her care after falling in love with the child’s caretaker, Vili.

In 1997, she faced charges of second-degree felony rape of a child on two counts. On both charges, she entered a plea of guilty.

Her original six-month sentence was reduced by three months in exchange for her promise never to contact her victim again. While incarcerated, she gave birth to her and Vili’s first child, a daughter named Audrey.

Mary and Vili Fualaau were discovered riding together in a car after her release from jail. Because of this, she was given a second seven-year-and-six-month prison term.

History repeated itself while Mary was serving her second stint in prison. She was also discovered to be expecting another child, and gave birth to Georgia while she and Vili were both incarcerated.

She had two children, but her young lover’s mother always ended up taking care of them. After being released in 2004, Mary was able to spend time with her kids for the first time in her life.
