Using surveillance footage, the Miami-Dade police were able to locate a vehicle linked to the previous crime, which was subsequently discovered in Orlando on Friday night. Viel allegedly discharged shots at the investigating officers, resulting in a carjacking as he attempted to flee in a different vehicle.
