The occurrence of extreme weather occurrences may increase as the planet's temperature rises.
Disney’s Theme Parks Turning Into ‘Ghost Towns: Extreme weather issues can occur anywhere, not only the “Happiest Place on Earth.” There has been a dramatic decline in visitors to Disney parks. Images of Disneyland and Disney World appearing more empty than busy have been posted online by some tourists. There may be numerous causes, but a lot of people point to the erratic weather as a key one.
Photographs taken by visitors show Walt Disney World in Orlando appearing deserted. Ride wait times were unexpectedly short, even on the Fourth of July weekend, which is generally packed.

Reddit user commented how “barren” it felt in the parks in May. Unpredictable weather is one of the suggested causes for fewer visits.
The cost of a Disney vacation is high. From lodging and travel expenses to meals and trinkets, the bills quickly pile up. If you paid in advance for some of your travel, it may be difficult to secure a refund when a park closes, not to mention the disappointment of missing out.
Parks have previously been closed due to extreme weather. For instance, a typhoon warning caused Disneyland in Hong Kong to close in July, while Hurricane Ian caused Disney World to close in September 2022.
Visitors are also deterred by heat waves that are made worse by human-generated carbon emissions. Summer visits can be less enticing, especially for families with children, due to the lack of shade, long lines, congested areas, and the cost of refreshments.
Due to neighbouring wildfires, Disneyland in California experienced ash clouds and orange sky in 2017. Visitors were inconvenienced because nearby areas were evacuated while the park remained open.
The occurrence of extreme weather occurrences may increase as the planet’s temperature rises. Even greater attendance declines may result from visitors being hesitant to visit due to the possibility of a journey being wasted.
Disney is taking action to prevent the rising temperatures even though they have little influence over the weather. Disney World made plans to build two 75-megawatt solar facilities public in 2022. These will supply around 40% of the resort’s annual electricity requirements when coupled with the resort’s current solar resources.
The president of Walt Disney World Resort, Jeff Vahle, emphasised the company’s commitment to a sustainable future and their work to create a better planet for all people. By 2030, Disney wants to have zero emissions from its own operations.
