The opening monologue of ‘SNL’ by Dave Chappelle addresses Kanye West

The opening monologue of Saturday Night Live delivered by Dave Chappelle addressed Donald Trump, the midterm elections, and Kanye “Ye” West’s antisemitic outbursts. The comedian began by reciting a supposedly written statement. “I reject antisemitism in all of its manifestations.”

He continued, “And that, Kanye, is how you buy yourself some time, while I stand with my friends in the Jewish community.”

Chappelle spent the majority of his set criticising West, alleging him of feeling untouchable until Adidas and other companies fired him for antisemitic social media posts.

He added that it was ironic that Nazis founded Adidas, as even they were outraged. Chappelle also spoke about Kyrie Irving, who was recently suspended for at least five games by the Brooklyn Nets for sharing a link to the anti-Semitic film Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America.

Also arrested was Isaiah Lee, who assaulted Dave at the Hollywood Bowl. The man suspected of stabbing comedian Dave Chappelle onstage at the Hollywood Bowl has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his flatmate in a transitional housing facility in December, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecution asserts that Lee was identified and apprehended during the initial assault in part due to the widespread media coverage of the Chappelle incident. The county public defender’s office did not respond promptly to a message requesting comment from an attorney representing Lee.
