1500 Family Tax Rebate: Governor Hobbs’ bipartisan budget for 2023 includes a potential one-time Arizona Families Tax Rebate, which many Arizonans may qualify for. This rebate serves as a way to acknowledge and support the crucial contributions that Arizona families have made to the state’s ongoing success, offering financial assistance to those who meet the eligibility criteria.
To get the money back, you must have filed an Arizona full-year resident personal income tax return for the 2021 tax year. You also need to have claimed at least one child tax credit on that last tax return.

Those who filed as the sole taxpayer on a head of household, single, married filing separately, or as the primary taxpayer on a married filing jointly return are eligible for the rebate. You must also have owed at least $1 in personal income taxes to the state of Arizona for one of the tax years 2021, 2020, or 2019.
As reported on your 2021 tax return, the rebate offers qualified taxpayers $250 for each dependent under the age of 17 and $100 for each dependent over 17. Nevertheless, regardless of the dependents’ ages, the reimbursement is limited to three per taxpayer. For those filing separately as a single person, head of household, or married couple, the maximum rebate is $750; for those filing jointly, it can reach up to $1,500.

According to the Arizona Department of Revenue website, “For taxpayers who provided direct deposit information when they filed their returns in 2021 or 2022, the rebates will be issued by direct deposit.” “Paper checks will be mailed to the taxpayer’s last known address if ADOR does not have the taxpayer’s direct deposit information.
“The information from your previously filed tax returns for 2021 and 2022 is being used to calculate rebates. For this reason, the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) will send a paper check to your last known address if your direct deposit information is outdated and the rebate payment is not processed successfully.”
