Between 2014 and 2023, The Credit Wholesale Company Inc., which worked with Wells Fargo, recorded phone calls made to California residents and businesses. These calls were mostly related to sales, customer service, or appointments. The company however did not tell people that the calls were being recorded, which is against California’s strict privacy law. Thousands of calls were affected during this period, leading to serious legal concerns about consumer privacy.
A group of people sued Wells Fargo, The Credit Wholesale Company, and Priority Technology Holdings for recording their calls. The case ended with an out-of-court deal, giving affected people compensation.
Who can get the settlement money?
The settlement offers around $86 per recorded call, and some people may get up to $5,000 if they had several calls recorded without permission. The exact amount each person will receive depends on how many calls were recorded and the court’s final decision.

The Credit Wholesale Company Inc. has also promised to follow California law in the future and will now inform all callers before recording conversations.
