$600 Tariff Rebate Checks Could Be Coming Soon: This New Bill is for Working Families

A new bill may give millions of Americans a $600 stimulus check in 2025. It plans to send this money using funds from past tariff collections, helping working families cope with rising costs.

$600 Tariff Rebate Checks: A new idea in the U.S. Senate might bring money help to millions of people. This plan comes from Republican Senator Josh Hawley. He wants to use money made from tariffs to give checks to workers and families. These tariffs were put in place during Donald Trump’s time as president. The new bill is called the Reimbursement for American Workers Act. If it becomes law, it would send out checks of at least $600 to adults and also for each child in their family.

The plan works kind of like the checks people got during the COVID-19 time. Back then, the government gave money to people to help with living costs. Those checks put around $814 billion into the economy. Because of that, prices went up fast, and by June 2022, inflation hit over 9%, the highest in 41 years. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis said about one-third of that inflation was because of the stimulus payments, Forbes reported.

Will There Be a $2,000 Stimulus Payment in August 2025? Here’s What We Know

Why this is Being Proposed?

Senator Hawley said Americans have been hit hard by rising prices and policies from President Biden’s government. He believes the tariffs brought back money to the U.S, and now it’s time for the workers to get a part of that.

In his statement, Hawley said, “Americans deserve a tax break after four years of Biden’s policies that have devastated families’ savings and livelihoods. As President Trump proposed, my legislation would allow hard-working Americans to benefit from the wealth that Trump’s tariffs are bringing back to this country.”

How much will you Receive?

The checks would go out this year if the bill gets passed. The money would be $600 per person, including children. But people who earn more may not get the full amount.

  • If you are married and file taxes together and make more than $150,000
  • if you’re the head of the household earning more than $112,500
  • A single person making more than $75,000, then the check would get 5% smaller.

Still, even with that small cut, families who make less will get the full money if the bill becomes law.

If the government ends up collecting more tariff money than they thought, then people might get even more money than $600.

Next $725 stimulus payment: When is the August 2025 deposit coming?

What are the main points of this new bill?

  1. Provide a tariff rebate check this year to American workers and families.
  2. Ensure that the refund amount is at least $600 per adult and dependent child.
  3. Allow for a larger credit per person if tariff revenues exceed current projections for 2025.

This bill hasn’t been approved yet. It still needs to be passed before the checks can be sent. But it’s getting attention, especially from people who really need money help. The bill wants to support families directly and give them money from the earnings the U.S made through customs duties. It is not like a loan or benefit you have to sign up for. The idea is to give back the money that the country already collected.
