VA raises disability payments by 2.5% on December 1, 2024, to help with rising living costs, increasing monthly benefits for 80% disability rating veterans and dependents.

80 VA Disability Rate Increase: Veterans who get disability benefits from the VA are in luck! The VA will raise disability payments by 2.5% on December 1, 2024, to help with the rising cost of living.

What does this mean for you? The amount you get each month will go up from $2,095.28 to $2,161.01 if you have an 80% disability rating. The rise is even bigger for veterans who have people who depend on them. A veteran with a spouse and one child, for instance, can expect to get $2,340.09 in benefits.

VA Benefits Payment November: Who will get it?

Here’s a quick breakdown of how the 80% disability rate looks for 2025:

  • Veteran (No Dependents): $2,161.01
  • Veteran with Spouse: $2,215.04
  • Veteran with Spouse and 1 Child: $2,340.09

80 VA Disability Rate Increase: How much more in disability benefits can veterans get?

If you are a veteran with more children or if your spouse gets Aid and Attendance benefits, you may get even more money. For example, for every child under 18 years old, you will get an extra $82.00, and for every additional school-age child over 18 years old, you could get up to $267.00. Also, if your spouse is eligible for Aid and Attendance, your monthly benefits will go up by $153.

Because veterans face so many problems every day, it’s great that the VA knows these changes need to be made. When making a budget, every penny counts, even if it doesn’t seem like much this time. That’s because the increase was only 3.2% last year, in 2024.

Dental Insurance Options for Veterans Without VA Dental Benefits

A helpful VA disability calculator is available online to help you determine exactly how much you will receive. Whether you’re single or have dependents, this tool can help you manage your unique circumstances and take into consideration any extra allowances.

Keep in mind that you must monitor your claims and make sure your documentation is current in order to keep these benefits. Consult a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) for helpful advice if you’re unclear about what to do or would like more information about your particular circumstance.
