Are Stimulus Checks Coming for July 4? Here’s What We Know

Americans may get extra money around July 4, but not from the federal government. Only certain states are sending out local rebates, tax refunds, or inflation aid to qualifying residents.

Stimulus Checks on July 4: Some people think a new federal stimulus check might be coming on July 4 but that’s not true. The federal government has not approved a new payment like the ones given during the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, some states are offering their own payments and rebates to help people deal with rising prices and family expenses during the holiday week.

State Payments Helping Families

Right now, many of the payments being sent out are part of programs like the Child Tax Credit, tax refunds, or one-time benefits connected to inflation. Some of these are arriving before Independence Day so families can use the money for extra expenses. But this kind of help depends on where you live and what programs your state has.

For example, in California, the Middle Class Tax Refund is still being sent out, but only to those who updated their bank info on time. In Texas and Colorado, some families are getting extra help too, but the rules and payment amounts are different depending on each person’s situation and location. It’s important that people check their own state’s official tax or revenue website.

Other States

Some states have regular programs that are still giving out payments. Like Alaska’s Permanent Fund,  residents there get annual checks if they meet certain conditions, like proving they’ve lived in the state long enough. In Maine, people with low or moderate incomes can get help through the Property Tax Fairness Credit.

New Mexico is giving out one-time relief payments too, based on the income people reported on their tax returns. This helps families manage the effects of inflation and rising prices. New Jersey also has similar programs in place to support qualified residents.

Each of these states has its own way of deciding who gets help, how much they receive, and when the payment arrives. That’s why it’s important to check official information directly from your state government.
