Atmos Summit Card: Easy Guide to Global Companion Award Benefits

The Atmos Summit credit card offers a Global Companion Award that lets cardholders reduce points for a second award ticket. The benefit can be earned yearly and used on select partner airlines.

Atmos Summit Card Companion Award: The Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Credit Card became one of the most talked about new credit cards in 2025. It was even named TPG’s favorite new personal credit card of the year. One big reason for this recognition is a benefit called the Global Companion Award.

This benefit is popular because it is simple to understand and can save a lot of points when booking flights. People who use it carefully can get big value from it, especially when booking expensive international flights or premium cabin tickets.

What the Global Companion Award Does

The Global Companion Award is a special benefit that comes with the Atmos Rewards Summit credit card. It allows a cardholder to reduce the number of reward points needed for a second passenger when booking two award tickets.

This benefit can be used when booking flights on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and eligible Oneworld partner airlines.

Every year when your cardmember anniversary arrives you receive a 25,000 point Global Companion Award. Cardholders who spend $60,000 or more on purchases during a cardmember year can earn another reward worth 100,000 points.

According to TPG’s March 2026 valuations the 25,000 point award is valued at about $375. The larger 100,000 point award is estimated to be worth around $1,500. However taxes and fees still have to be paid when using these rewards.

When two award tickets are booked the reward automatically reduces the points needed for the companion ticket. The discount is either 25,000 or 100,000 Atmos Rewards points depending on the certificate used. These awards stay valid for 12 months after they are issued. As long as the booking is made before the expiry date the actual travel can happen later.

How Cardholders Earn the Reward

Getting the Global Companion Award is not complicated for cardholders.

  • 25,000-point award: Automatically issued each cardmember anniversary
  • 100,000-point award: Earned after spending $60,000 or more on purchases within a cardmember year

Each reward is placed directly into your Atmos Rewards account. Once it appears in the account it can be used when booking flights on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines or other eligible partner airlines within the Oneworld alliance.

How the Global Companion Award Works?

The Global Companion Award can only be used when making a new award flight booking. It cannot be added later to an existing reservation.

  • Search for award availability for two passengers.
  • Select your flights.
  • At checkout, the companion award will automatically apply and discount the second ticket.

For example imagine a one way award flight from San Francisco International Airport to Haneda Airport in Tokyo costs 35,000 Atmos Rewards points. The first ticket would still cost the full 35,000 points. But if you apply a 25,000 point Global Companion Award the second ticket would cost only 10,000 points plus taxes and fees.

There are also some important rules to remember before using this benefit.

  • You cannot use both the 25,000-point and 100,000-point awards on the same booking.
  • The cardholder does not need to be the one traveling: You can book for any two passengers.
  • The award must be applied at the time of booking and cannot be added to an existing reservation.
  • You must book before the award expires (generally within 12 months of issuance), though travel can occur later.
  • You can cancel and rebook, provided the award has not expired.

What Happens if the Ticket Price is Different?

Sometimes the companion ticket may cost more or less than the value of the Global Companion Award.

If the second ticket costs more than 25,000 or 100,000 points you can simply use extra Atmos Rewards points to cover the remaining amount during checkout.

If the ticket costs less than the value of the certificate then the unused points will not be returned. Because of this many travelers try to use the reward on flights where the companion ticket costs at least as much as the certificate value.
