AT&T data breach settlement: Millions of people who use AT&T or used it before can now ask for money after two big security problems hit the company in 2024. AT&T agreed to a legal deal that will give payments to those who got hurt by the leaks. The process to ask for the money has already started, so people can send in their claims now.
The first security issue happened in March 2024. During this time, very private details like people’s names, birthdays, and Social Security numbers leaked out. Then, a few months later in July, another breach took place. This one was even bigger and almost every AT&T mobile user had their call and message records exposed. Because of these two events, the company faced a lot of pressure, and now it is trying to settle the matter by giving out compensation.

Anyone who had their data exposed in one or both of the breaches can make a claim. People who were affected already got an email or a letter with their class identification number. If they lost it or didn’t get one, they can call Kroll Settlement Administration at 833-890-4930 to get help.
To file for the money, people need to complete the form before November 18, 2025. They can fill out the form online or mail it. The information needed includes the class number, the person’s full name, email, and their AT&T account number. If someone is also asking for money for actual losses, like if they paid for credit protection or had money stolen, they must add proof like receipts or official papers.
Payments vary depending on the type of damage:
– Up to $5,000 for documented losses related to the first leak
– Up to $2,500 for losses related to the second leak
– If you were affected by both, you could receive up to $7,500.
– Tier 1: for those who had their Social Security number exposed
– Tier 2: for those who suffered exposure to other personal data
– Tier 3: for those affected by the second leak without sensitive data compromised.
If a person does nothing, they won’t get paid at all. They will also lose their chance to take AT&T to court on their own. But if they want to handle the case by themselves, they can ask to be excluded before October 17, 2025.

The court will look at the settlement on December 3, 2025. If the court agrees and no one appeals the decision, then the payments will start soon after that. But people should not expect instant money.
